Sadly, I’ve tried one too many products that promise a beautiful smelling home only to be as good as fragrance-free once applied to the floors. I would recommend thinking about the scent strength as some people prefer something less in your face. Some of the floor cleaners I’ll talk about in this guide can be quite potent so if you’re sensitive to smells, I’d suggest going for something a little lighter like the Swiffer Wetjet cleaner. However, if you aren’t afraid to go big when it comes to fragrance in the home, products like Better Life will fill your house with a beautifully strong scent.

It’s also worth paying attention to the ingredients in your scented floor cleaner. There are a lot of brands like Method and Better Life that use vegan-friendly manufacturing methods and plant-based ingredients. If this is something that’s important to you, there are some products you should avoid brands like Mr Clean, which are not cruelty free.

Be very mindful about the type of floor cleaner you are buying as not all are suitable for use on every floor type. Things like hardwood and natural stone need to be cleaned more delicately so check the label or product information before use. When I’m doing my annual spring clean, I love to use the Lemon and Verbena floor cleaner concentrate from Mrs. Meyer’s. It’s a fresh, floral scent that’s mild yet very noticeable. The fragrant smell stays around for quite a while which makes my home feels cleaner for longer.

I also noticed that Mrs. Meyer’s floor cleaner concentrate does an excellent job of removing dirt and grease. It leaves my floors looking and feeling super clean. Plus, you only need to add a very small amount of water for it to work wonders.

Before I get into the nitty gritty, I will point out that this floor cleaner is to be used in conjunction with the Swiffer WetJet mop. However, it’s seriously worth the investment since this is a winning combination when it comes to bringing your floors to a visible shine.

Not only does the Lavender floor cleaner power through dirt but it is, in my opinion, one of the best-smelling floor cleaners of the moment. I love lavender scents and this one has a pleasant scent to it. If you want your home to feel clean and filled with aroma, I’d recommend this. Plus with Febreze, it’ll get rid of nasty smells.

I wish this scent was a little more potent but it’s certainly noticeable and lasts a very long time. I love scents that make me feel alive and Citrus Mint is one of them. It’s powerful, refreshing, and hangs around for a very long time after you’ve cleaned the floors. When you look at the online ratings and reviews, it’s not hard to see that this is an extremely popular product.

And it’s not just the monster of a fragrance that this floor cleaner gives off. It’s also the performance that makes it such a worthwhile addition to your cleaning cabinet. With 100% natural ingredients, Better Life can be used on all floor types and will destroy dirt, leaving your home immaculate.

I just can’t get enough of this fresh, minty scent. It leaves my floors shiny and my home smelling great. But while it’s powerful, the scent doesn’t give you a headache and isn’t too much. You could say that this product has the perfect balance of everything.

4. Method Squirt + Mop Wood Floor Cleaner

Vegan-friendly and super scented for gentle yet effective cleaning

I love Method products as they’re heavily scented. It’s literally like using perfume for your home so I was really excited to try the floor cleaner. This scent is rich and nutty and perfect for making your home feel cozy and welcoming, especially in winter since the scent is so warm.

It’s incredibly easy to use and requires no elbow grease; just squirt it onto your hardwood or laminate floor and mop. But be sure to only use it on sealed hardwood floors otherwise damage may occur.

Verdict

I think that Method Almond Hardwood Floor cleaner is one of the best affordable cleaning products on the market. It does an excellent job of bringing those sealed wood floors to a shine and leaves a strong scent behind.

5. Mr. Clean Multi-Surface Cleaner With Gain Moonlight Breeze Scent

The perfect tough cleaning product with a very obvious scent

Mr. Clean doesn’t actually offer a dedicated floor cleaner but their multi-surface cleaner is perfect for all floor surfaces including finished wood. Although I’d advise against using this or any other similar product on natural stone.

So, what does Moonlight Breeze smell like? Can I say heaven? Because that’s how it feels to my nose! It’s fresh and fruity and, in my opinion, a great summer fragrance. However, I have seen some reviews that say it’s quite chemical-smelling.

That said, this cleaner does an amazing job of bringing the floors up to standard. It doesn’t leave any residue and a little bit really does go a long way.

Verdict

For such an affordable product, there’s not much I can critique about Mr. Clean. That said, the brand recently reformulated its scents and this one is said to smell obviously different from how it used to. It still smells stunning, if a little synthetic but since it cleans so well, that’s certainly not a deal breaker for me.

Bonus Tip: Homemade Floor Cleaner That Smells Great

I am confident that all of the floor cleaners I have discussed in this guide have a lot to offer. However, for many people, knowing exactly what ingredients have gone into the creation of a product is the most important thing. And what better way to stay in control of the ingredients than making your own homemade scented floor cleaner?

Before I go into detail about what to include, I should warn you that you should never mix household chemicals. Things like bleach can release dangerous fumes when mixed with other chemicals so this should always be avoided.

But there are plenty of other ingredients you can use to get your floors looking immaculate and leave your home smelling great.

To make your very own floor cleaner you only need the following ingredients:

• 2 gallons of hot water
• ¼ of a cup of sodium carbonate
• ¼ of a cup of white vinegar
• 1 tablespoon of unscented dish soap

You may notice that I have listed unscented dish soap and the reason for this is that I want the fragrance to come from essential oils as opposed to chemical products. Once you have mixed the aforementioned ingredients together, you can add in a few drops of your favorite essential oils.

There’s really no limit here but your imagination but here are some essential oil combos that work very well together and will leave behind a strong scent.
