Love Spell is a fruity-floral fragrance featuring a sweet opening, floral heart, and a musky dry down. Making its debut in the early 2000s, Love Spell has remained a staple in Victoria’s Secret’s ever-changing lineup of fragrance mists and perfumes. While Love Spell is widely available in stores, some of us feel the longevity and projection could be more robust, and it tends to fade quickly. Some people find that Love Spell smells rather youthful and are looking for something comparable that’s more mature. If you love this soft feminine blend of floral and fruity notes but are looking for something that lasts, then here are some similar perfumes I think you’d like if you are a fan of Love Spell.
Love Spell: Looking for Similarities
There are a few steps I follow in order to find the perfect alternative to Love Spell. First, I look for an overall accord with light floral and fruity notes. Look for fragrances featuring peaches, berries, apples, or even plums. Don’t include scents that lean too citrusy, as they may become too tart as the scent dries down. Because white and purple floral notes develop in the middle of the accord, I want to include fragrances that feature lilac, jasmine, or freesia notes. The base of Love Spell is quite musky, and a subtle woodiness sits closely on the skin. My goal is to find fragrances with similar notes, but avoid anything too spicy or peppery. The projection should be soft and light while remaining detectable to those close to you. After determining what type of fragrance we’re looking for, let’s take a look at my list of eight fragrances to try as close alternatives to Love Spell.
8 Perfumes Similar To Love Spell
1. Sexiest Fantasies Love Struck by Parfums de Coeur
This parfum is the closest dupe to Victoria’s Secret Love Spell. I think it does a decent job recreating the accord and I noticed a few interesting qualities after trying it several times. Although the notes include peach, cherry blossom, and musk, I detect a hint of licorice right at the opening. This vibe settles quickly, and a robust mix of peach and fragrant cherry blossom takes center stage. The heart is very reminiscent of Love Spell. As it developed, I did notice a chamomile scent that quickly faded away. The dry down feels a bit nuttier, though a white musk vibe settles close on the skin, which reminds me of the original. I think the sweet vibe intensifies over time, and a subtle tartness develops that reminds me of vitamin C tablets. I was impressed with the longevity, and this dupe seems to last much longer than Love Spell. It’s also fairly inexpensive. If you’re looking for a more affordable alternative to Love Spell and don’t mind the slight licorice vibe, Love Struck could be a good choice.
2. Heiress by Paris Hilton
If you’re looking for something with more substantial longevity and a slightly creamier vibe, I recommend checking out Heiress. A fizzy champagne note reveals itself at the opening and remains throughout wear. At the same time, a hint of grenadine gives it a fleeting syrupy sweetness that disappears after the first few minutes. The accord features a mix of ripe fruits and soft florals that is highly reminiscent of Love Spell. Heiress, however, has a more mature vibe because of tonka bean and ylang-ylang, they tend to balance out the overall sweetness. In terms of longevity, Heiress outperforms Love Spell, and the projection is more robust as well. I believe that if you’re looking for a similar fragrance but need something more complex and sensual with good projection, you may want to try Heiress.
3. Midnight Fantasy by Britney Spears
Generally speaking, Midnight Fantasy develops similarly to Love Spell. However, it opens with more of a juicy plum scent. There is a slight tartness that reminds me of the fizzy vibe in Love Spell, and the base is similarly woody, but I notice a hint of amber that elicits a subtle warmth as it dries. While many people find the fruitiness of Love Spell a bit overpowering, I think the fruit notes are well-balanced in Midnight Fantasy, and vanilla softens the accord. If you enjoy a sweeter vibe yet want something with more depth and longevity, Midnight Fantasy will fit the bill.
4. Eden Juicy Apple | 01 Eau De Parfum by Kayali
If you enjoy the combination of fruity and floral notes in Love Spell and Pure Seduction by Victoria’s Secret, I feel you’ll find Eden Juicy Apple elicits a similar vibe that’s perfect for fans of either fragrance. The opening is exceptionally juicy and fruity, while a combination of musk, amber, and moss at the base help elevate this fragrance in terms of maturity. I think the projection strikes an ideal balance of remaining detectable without overwhelming a room. Additionally, I noticed the berry notes develop towards the middle, giving this fragrance a slightly tropical vibe. Over time these notes become more subdued. I recommend trying this fragrance for something with a more mature vibe that’s similar to both Pure Seduction and Love Spell.
5. Pure Seduction by Victoria’s Secret
A common issue many people have with Love Spell is that it smells somewhat synthetic, especially if it’s over-sprayed. For something less synthetic, try Pure Seduction. This Victoria’s Secret fragrance features a simplistic accord of plum, freesia, and chamomile. Although the accord is nowhere near as complex as Love Spell, I find the opening nearly identical to Love Spell. There is a freshness that develops as it settles, and I think the chamomile note is behind this quality. I also noticed hints of watermelon and bubble gum at one point, although these notes are not part of the accord. In terms of longevity, I was not impressed, so you might want to look elsewhere if you need something that will last. Nevertheless, I think Pure Seduction is a decent alternative if you enjoy the general vibe of Love Spell.
6. Selena Gomez Eau de Parfum by Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez is a good alternative for those who want something with a similar opening to Love Spell with a powdery sweet, dry down. I find this perfume a bit musky after the initial spray, but it is clean and invigorating and elevates the vanilla note as it develops.
I find that the chocolate and coconut notes that appear as it dries down are synthetic and a bit dissimilar to Love Spell. Fortunately, these notes are fleeting and tend to stay in the background while a fruity sweetness settles on the skin. My impression is that the longevity is much better than Love Spell, and the dry down is more tropically scented shampoo-like. It’s a viable alternative to Love Spell that features a similar fruity feminine vibe but with better performance that’s suitable for the office.
7. Dark Cherry Orchid by Bodycology
While Love Spell is already affordable, you may be looking for something even less expensive with a similar peachy vibe. Although Dark Cherry Orchid mentions sour cherry notes in its accord, I detect a pronounced peachy scent right away. A floral orchid note develops over time, but the peach remains elevated and carries through wear. Over time the cherry note evolves and becomes more pronounced as the fragrance develops. I also detect a subtle hint of sandalwood, but it’s very soft and disappears rather quickly. I think Dark Cherry Orchid is a close dupe for Love Spell, although it remains sweeter as it dries down, while Love Spell becomes muskier. Like most body sprays, the longevity isn’t great. However, I think it’s a great option if you like to layer your fragrances or want something lighter for daily wear.
8. Pure Secret by Phytoderm
Pure Secret is another dupe of Love Spell that first hit the market in 2017. Several aspects of this dupe are spot on for Love Spell. However, there are also a few differences worth mentioning. Initially, the first notes I could detect were melon and tart green apples. These notes settle somewhat over time but remain in the background throughout the day. Peach and jasmine appear shortly after. However, I feel they are more subtle and less overtly sweet than in Love Spell. Instead of a musky base, Pure Secret remains sweet with a soft, woody note of cedar that lingers on the skin. Pure Secret has a fresh vibe, as though you just got out of the shower, much like Love Spell. Love Spell and Pure Secret have similar longevity and projection. Definitely Give Pure Secret a try if you enjoy fruity fragrances.
